IROQUOIS SUNSET - Eternally inspired by the beauty of the Finger Lakes and the rural countryside of upstate New York, William Deats finds inspiration from historic American landscape artists.
The opening reception for this show is from 5 to 9 PM, on the 5th of November 2004, at
Shangri-La Gifts and Publications, 156 E. State Street (The Commons). Exhibit is open Wed. to Sunday throughout November.
DANBY POND - A native of Bath, New York, William Deats has been painting his his youth, being inspired by the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes region. Using oils, Deats has captured the essence of lakes, forests and fields at all times of year. This work, DANBY POND, captures the vibrant colors of autumn.
In addition to rural scenes, Deats makes a living by painting commissioned works of client's homes, places of business, or even views that have particular significance. He has also created unique compositions for clients, which show various aspects of a particular theme.

In 2002, William Deats traveled to Italy, where again he was inspired to paint landscapes, town and city scenes. In these two paintings made in Venice, Italy, Deats captures the luminescent qualities of that city as it appears to float on the surface of the Adriatic Sea.
RURAL LANDSCAPES IN ITALY
SUNRISE OVER TODI - The morning haze over Tody, Italy, lifts to reveal the famous ancient towers on the horizon.
UMBRIAN VINEYARDS - Not unlike the vineyards along the banks of Lake Cayuga, the Umbrian landscape boasts of sunlit vines.
UMBRIAN COUNTRY HOUSE - The quiet domestic scenes of peace and solitude serve as inspirations to us all.
